Imperial Beach Mini-Moorings
Deployments in support of the SCCOOS Pathogen Forecast Model
Overview
Four Mini-Moorings are deployed off Imperial Beach, CA to measure in-situ physical oceanographic properties to validate and improve the Pathogen Forecast Model, which visualizes contamination levels and potential risks of illness in the coastal ocean of the San Diego-Tijuana border region.
Each Mini-Mooring measures temperature and salinity at 1-m and 10-m depths; the central node 'IB-C' also measures currents throughout the water column. Data are telemetered to shore in real time. The plots below show the subset of data for which all four moorings are deployed concurrently.
